What is DOM Bénédictine?

Bénédictine is an aromatic, French liqueur with a romantic and mysterious past that makes great cocktails. It is made up of a secret blend of 27 herbs and spices that includes saffron, cinnamon, angelica, hyssop, juniper and myrrh from five continents!

So secret that only a handful of people know the recipe, this select group includes the Master Herbalist and the Master Distiller.

D.O.M. Bénédictine weighs in at 40% abv (alcohol by volume). However, despite this high level of alcohol, it is remarkably smooth and quite sweet, with a decidedly herbal scent, quite reminiscent of a cough mixture at times!

I did a detailed post on Bénédictine some years ago that you can read by clicking here.

The Benediction Recipe

The Benediction is a simple, but classy celebratory cocktail that was created at the Standard Hotel in New York.

It’s essentially, a shot of Bénédictine topped up with champagne, and flavoured with a few dashes of orange bitters.

It’s a refreshing, grown up drink where one is able to appreciate Bénédictine without being overwhelmed. You could even top it with prosecco, if you prefer. Add an orange garnish if you like, sit back and enjoy!

Did I say easy somewhere at the start? Then, let’s get our aprons on!

Would give anything for a glass of The Benediction. Azlin you make awesome cocktails. I’ve had the opportunity to taste Dom Benedictine once, with some tonic water and lime.
