Grains of Paradise (Melegueta Pepper from Africa)
Grains of Paradise, are the seeds of Aframomum melegueta, a perennial plant native to West Africa. They are just a touch spicy, with quite a strong floral aroma as you bite into it, with traces of cloves and cardamom. Quite a complex pepper.

Ingredients
▢
1
tsp
grains of paradise or as called for in your recipe
Instructions
Crush or pound them in a pestle and mortar. I find that they are best when coarsely ground.
Can be added to your recipe both as an ingredient when cooking, as well as to finish off, like you would use black pepper.
