This easy Harissa Salmon is so good, it’s going to be your new weeknight favourite!

Easy Harissa Salmon

Today’s recipe came about after I posted our Easter Sunday lunch in my Instagram stories as I was preparing it.

I’d made this Persian Roast Lamb and half a salmon side that had been marinated with a harissa marinade for the Pescatarians.

Colour me surprised when I was inundated with requests for the harissa salmon recipe. So here we are.

The Recipe

It’s so easy using some basic ingredients. This is what we’ll be doing:

  1. Make the marinade.
  2. Chop up the tomatoes and peppers we’re using.
  3. Marinate the salmon (30 minutes to 2 hours) if you have time. If not cook it straight away for 20 – 30 minutes – lightly cooked to well done.

And that’s it. Told ya it was easy.

How to Serve Harissa Salmon

This dish is so versatile. When I served it at Easter, we had some roast potatoes, carrots and broccoli on the side, along with a vegan paella (so many vegetarians in my family!). That was a whole side of salmon.

You can serve this harissa salmon with any carbs you like:

  • mash, steamed potatoes, sautéed potatoes or one of my favourites, a simple potato salad.
  • rice – whether that’s plain rice or flavoured like Saffron Rice, Egyptian rice or Mujaddara.
  • couscous – again, make it plain or flavoured, like this couscous salad that’s always a hit at my parties.
  • don’t forget your vegetables – as you can see, we add a bell pepper and some tomatoes to the recipe, as I just love roasted vegetables. On top of that, serve it with perhaps a side salad or some steamed vegetables.

Harissa

This is the star of the show, so use a good quality harissa. I only ever use homemade, because I’m fussy like that, and homemade harissa is so very easy put together.

How much to use in this recipe? I’ve given you 2 tablespoons in the recipe card below. Treat this as a guide. Use more if you fancy a spicier harissa salmon.

One more thing to consider is how hot is your harissa? If it’s mild, go wild, if it’s hot, maybe not!

And that’s all there is to it. It’s such and easy and lazy recipe, I was too lazy to do a proper photo shoot!

Ingredients

Marinade

  • 2 Tbsp harissa click for homemade
  • 1 Tbsp runny honey
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • ½ teaspoon sweet paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 sprigs parsley finely chopped

Instructions

Prep Work

  • Preheat the oven to 180℃ (200℉) if roasting immediately.
  • Make the marinade by mixing all the ingredients together and set aside.
    2 Tbsp harissa, 1 Tbsp runny honey, 1 Tbsp olive oil, juice of 1 lemon, ½ teaspoon sweet paprika, ½ teaspoon salt, 2 sprigs parsley
  • Quarter the tomatoes.
    2 tomatoes
  • Slice the bell peppers into thick strips.
    1 bell pepper

Marinate & Cook the Salmon

  • Place the salmon and vegetables into a baking dish and marinate everything with the mix you made earlier. Leave the salmon to marinate for up to 2 hours if you have time. If you don’t they’ll still be amazing.

  • Roast in the oven, uncovered, for 20 minutes for lightly cooked salmon, 25 – 30 minutes for well done. At 30 minutes, your fish may take on some cripy bits at the end, just the way I like it. Serve as describe above.
