Darjeeling Tea, Peaches and Spinach Smoothie

Darjeeling Tea, Peaches and Spinach Smoothie

This Darjeeling Tea, Peaches and Spinach Smoothie is another one of my experimental, not necessarily funky, smoothie mixes. I start my mornings with a huge mug of tea; one particular morning I went for pure darjeeling and decided to mix it up into a smoothie, for my post run nutrition.

The plan was to add some capsicum to the mix, instead of spinach, but I was too lazy to walk down to end of the (small) garden to get a fresh one. Because it was a hot, hot day. Hot days and I don’t get along – I get really, really lazy and stressed out! End result, I wanted some greens, found the good old spinach in the fridge, and that was that.

As usual, I added some semi skimmed milk as the base, and some protein powder (as my smoothies are always pre or post workout) and resisted the chia seeds this time. The result? A rather mild concoction in which none of the players played a huge part. You can taste and smell the darjeeling, which was the idea here, besides the caffeine, which is meant to allow you to get more out of your workout.

Depending on how sweet your peaches are, you may or may not want to add some honey, mine weren’t too sweet, but I also didn’t bother with the honey. All in all, a rather pleasant drink, maybe not quite in the same league as my other daredevil-type smoothies, but eminently drinkable and something I shall be making again, I’m sure. Feel free to experiment with the flavours, as you wish, but the tea, in this case, the darjeeling tea, makes a great base for a smoothie.

And you may even leave the milk out and use water, if you like. Or use any milk of your choice. Darjeeling goes very well with soya milk, incidentally.

Lastly, your tea wants to be cold, so make it earlier and place in the fridge to chill. Or make it the night before.

Here are some other smoothies, all meant as pre or post workout drinks, that you may be interested in:

Thank you Ravi, I reckon capsicum would have added a wonderful fresh aroma to it!
